Default Catalytic Converter/Exhaust Needed ASAP

Hello All. I have a 2006 IS350. My inspection garage failed my inspection because apparently the previous owner hollowed out the cats. does anyone have a full exhaust or stock cats they could sell me? Or any recommendation on how to remedy this issue? Thanks! 717 360 6028

get a new cat. you're looking at at least $1000 with parts and labor at an independent shop. I had mine done at the dealership and it was almost $2000

I think you can get away with buying and welding on a Magnaflow Hi-Flow Cat onto your midpipe to pass your smog inspection.

Can someone else confirm?

Start looking on www.car-parts.com. You should be able to find what you need at the wreckers. The only ohter thing is to find out where the guy use to take the car for inspection and take it there. Obviously for a few bucks they will pass it.

Just to add onto the latter: consider getting a myCARFAX account and linking your vehicle. It's free and you'll be able to see your vehicle's service history - including where it last passed inspections. This is assuming the previous owner's lovely mod wasn't between then and now.

If you have it in budget, consider installing High Flow cats (as someone mentioned above). You'll be able to pass emissions with minimal performance detriment.

Gutting CATs is no better than leaving a good CAT in place.
Allowing the Hot gasses to expand some 5x over in their newly formed expansion chamber kills the flow. The thing the gutter tried to improve.
Once the gasses expand, then they need compressed again to exit which kills the flow as heat and velocity have been lost!

Quit killing CATs unless they have failed. And if you do, fit a straight pipe in their place.
