Mirror Issue - Folding and Puddle Light
Hi everyone, I recently just purchased a 2006 Lexus IS250 Sports and I am so glad to be in such a welcoming environment!
After purchasing the vehicle, I realised there was multiple issues with the right hand side mirror.
1. When I press the fold in mirrors button inside the car, only the left side folds in. The right side doesn't even make a sound at all!
2. When I unlock the car, the puddle lights underneath the right mirror does not turn on. Despite swapping the light bulb for a brand new one, it is still not working. So maybe something to do with the wiring?
Everything is completely fine with the left side, but the right side has these issues. I also found that there is a little piece of plastic (I guess it is placed by the previous owner) that is jammed between the mirror, and the stand of the mirror. I am assuming that there was a minor accident here which broke this mirror... Anyhow, is there any way to fix this besides purchasing a brand new mirror? Not really keen on spending $$$ just to get an inspection at a Lexus dealer.
Thanks in advance!

FIrst, check fuses. I'm not sure if there are different fuses for left and right, but maybe. Second, dismantle the mirror and inspect it. There were issues with these mirrors getting loose on their mounts and flopping around, which may explain the wedge the previous owner put in. Chances are since the puddle lamp doesn't work, it's electrical and maybe a fuse, but could be lose connector or something else. You're just not going to know until you dive in.
