Should I buy a power train warranty?
I recently bought a 2009 Lexus IS 350 with 97k miles on it. The Carfax showed that everything was up to date on the services that it needed and everything. All from Lexus too. My question is...would it be good to buy a 3 year/36,000 miles power train warranty for $2,000? The miles are nearing 100k. I 've read that at around 100k cars start to come up with some of the "bigger" problems. Thank you!

Hell No, save dat 2grand. Save it for regular 100k mile maintence.
Replace timeing belt or do carbon build up removal. Put new tires and ur Set.
Powertrain ur pockets"

After Market Warranties are typically scams. My only experience with one was when an engine went in a car we had due to the dealership doing ****ty work. The after market warranty replaced the engine with a used wrecker engine for $600 and we were responsible for the labor of putting it in. The dealer where we purchased it (Buick Dealership) said they had nothing to do with the warranty since it was not a GM warranty but a 3rd party company.
That was the end of any warranties for me. 2000k is a lot of money and it probably doesn't cover much , so I would say don't get it.
Just make sure you know what your buying. Have a mechanic look at it f you can. If not check it out yourself as best you can. There are plenty of resources on the net to tell you what and where to look for problems.

Yeah, I will most likely do the 100k mile maintenance. These cars are very reliable I've heard. Thank you.
