Can anyone tell me why I hear a weird buzzer in the dash that goes on for one second when starting the car and then opening the door after I shut the car off? I cannot figure out why this happens. Is something just broke?

 

It's not a buzzer, it's a motor. More specifically, it's for the steering lock, the anti-theft device that prevents the car from being steered when the car is off.

 

Oh ok. Is it supposed to be this noisy? Sounds really unprofessional lol. Not something I would expect from this brand. Is it hard to change?

 

Without a video, it's hard to tell if yours is broken. It's really not that noisy on mine, i.e., akin to the noise level of opening the sunroof. It only runs for about 2 seconds, once just before the starter motor cranks, and again the first time a door is opened after turning the car off.
