Speed sensor stuck in hub assembly
My cruise control stopped working on my 2009 IS 350. It would turn on, but not set speed. No other codes or anything, but I did do all 4 new brake rotors, pads, and replaced the rear calipers not long ago, so I thought, maybe something is odd with the speed sensor, and worse case i would just clean it and be done.
Well worse case got alot worse. While trying to remove the right rear speed sensor, it cracked on me. And well now it's stuck inside the hub assembly. Any help on getting it out? Is my only option to disassemble the entire hub and try to pop it out from the inside? If I do need to take the hub assembly apart, any advice on how to remove and disassemble the entire rear hub assembly? I seen the main axle nut has a notch in it. I assume this is a 1-time use nut, and I need to get the notch out before I can remove it. My biggest socket at home is 32mm and not big enough for this nut, what is the size of the axle nut?
I will be happy with any info or guidance to getting this fixed.
Thanks.

It would take no time at all to remove the hub and punch the sensor out from the back side. 32mm should actually be the right size, have you tried to see if it fits? It needs to be a 12 point though, maybe that's the issue?
You can always try drilling it through, then using a punch or chisel to bust the edges out and try to pick everything out of there.
my 32mm socket is a standard 6 point. I'll get a 32mm 12-point socket and try with that. I'm fearful to drill the sensor out because then I would end up with all kinds of plastic bits in the hub assembly... unless that's ok. If it's ok I would prefer to just drill it out.

If the only other option is pulling the hub anyway, then I guess it can't hurt to try. If it doesn't work and leaves a bunch of ***** in there, then you just pull the hub anyway and clean it out.
But yeah the hub shouldn't be hard. Just get an axle nut in advance since I'm pretty sure they're one time use.
