Default Help with P0328: Knock Sensor 1 Circuit High

Hello all, could anyone help with the code P0328 Knock Sensor 1 Circuit High?
i noticed that when i was driving on the highway this morning, engine light came on and then i noticed that going 70mph, my rpm's were above 3k, which it shouldnt. so i look at the gear and its still in 4th and wont go past 4th at all.
when i got to work, i cleared the codes with a scan tool and it stayed off (at least for now) and shifts above 4th now.

Anyone had this issue before? and/or help with how to fix or locate the part in the car?

thanks,

Our vehicles do limit the gear (usually 5th, not 4th) when cold. Had you recently started the car and hop onto the HWY? If you come across the issue where it "hangs" up in a certain gear and won't upshift, pop into manual/sport mode and shift gears using the paddles. Hopefully it will work; it did the ONE time my trans hung up in 3rd or 4th...cannot remember. But I had no codes.

I am also experiencing a similar issue with my 2005 ES330. I have not cleared the code yet, but I am noticing a high RPM ~3K on the highway when it's usually around 2-2.5K. Anyone figure out the problem?

How much mileage on the car. If I remember correctly I swapped my GS400 knock sensors. They tend to go bad eventually. It will limp the car to some degree, but i cant remember if I could exceed certain rpms or gears.

Reset the code to limp the car home if needed.

Just made an update on my post here:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/es-...0328-code.html

Basically, the lights went away this morning and the gears shift normally and RPM is back to normal. Didn't really do anything except for checking the coolant level in the radiator (was full) and going for a short drive last night (still had the warning lights ON when I got back).

My car has 203K+ miles on it currently. I am also thinking it could be a bad sensor at this point, but the labor cost to replace it seems a lot

At 203k I wouldn't doubt it's no longer functioning. The first time I got the cell. I just reset the code on the fly. Then the code kept popping up more frequently. Untill resetting the code was immediately. At that point I just swapped both sides for the V8. At high milage the connectors are very brittle. How much is the shop quoting you for? It involves removing the intake manifold, and what not. I'd probably say it's a 3hr job. Not really sure how much you have to remove. I'm not familiar with the transverse engine on the ES.

Yes the sensor is deep down in the bay. For now, the car is working fine, no sensor issue, so I am going to keep driving it without bothering the harness. Thank you for the help!
