Oh wow I was under the impression that all of the 3rd Gen IS use the 8spd. That's interesting, I wonder if the tuners know this when looking into tuning the trans.

Of course, because if it were that simple everyone would have done it.

Wouldn't AWD and RWD transmissions be programmed differently though?

Ok guys, some hope here. TsunamiF mentioned in RRracings tune thread that there was still a large interest in the transmission tune. Rafi replied by saying they would love to do it, but they just need a car to work on it with. So someone get them a car!!!

I've got a RWD 350 that I'd be willing to guinea pig.. I'm in BC, Canada though and most of these tuning guys are in Cali if I'm not mistaken.

I'd be willing to let them use mine too but I'm not exactly close.

Yeah RR is in Pennsylvania, so anyone out there should get in touch with them and let them know they have a car they can use.

There must be some IS350's in Pennslvania, someone please please volunteer their car, I'm sure they get the tune for free for volunteering.
That would be a YUGE service to all IS350 owners that want the upgrade....proven safe & reliable I would be the first if not second to sign up for it....ha ha... no joke!

Default VR Gearbox tuning

These guys did it already
https://www.vividracing.com/catalog/...150794665.html

I'll be the guinea pig to test it to see if it works as claimed.

You must be talking about the ECU tuning not the transmission tuning. actually they are holding off on selling it it because they are having some problems just like RR Racing which a member ordered it on OBD2 and he was really happy with it but now they also have some problems as well and stop selling them. TTFS is the only one selling the ECU tuning now but for $795 for the IS350 as far as I know.

I've seen a lot more positive feedback from RR and TTFS. When I contacted RR about the tune they did let me know they were having some issues with the OBD unit and said they would have it fixed once they got it back from the manufacturer of the unit in Italy. VR tuning seems to have a pretty bad rep on the forums if you do some searching...

Many surely appreciate your effort, please update what you find out.
Lots of people repeat what they hear, never know till you actually try it in person.
many thanks

I have my hopes up that orangevirus tuning will be able to get a transmission tune figured out. They are working on newer models and seem to be making progress working through the ecu, im sure they will get it.

Something seems too sketchy about this. +25hp and +40ft/lb? That is about as much as you'd get from headers + exhaust + a tune, and to be honest if this did work as advertised I'd probably would be using it right now. It just seems too good to be true.

I read OVTuning's blog post about how the 2GR FSE is reeeally limited by the stock tune and the fact that they were able to figure out something that complicated gives me hope they could pull something like this off too. I want to see how much HP their tune gives though before distracting them with a project as big as this. There is still hope.
