Default Power steering problem at startup.

This has happened to me twice now and I want to try to resolve this before it leaves me stranded. After starting my car I get a few extra lights on the dash for power steering and brakes. My power steering is obviously out, not sure about the brakes as I didn't leave the parking lot. The problem has gone away after turning the engine off then back on and outside of these couple moments I've had no problems and the car drives fine. I want to blame the steering ECU but before spending any money I wanted to check to see if there are any other likely causes.

I'd first check that your battery is in good shape. Then it just might be your steering ecu going out. Good excuse for a 2011+ IS-F steering ecu perhaps?

I'm not sure what model you have but I am pretty sure their was a recall of some sort on the Rack.

Battery is an almost 1-year-old optima yellow top so I hope it is still ok. Looks like I am now on the hunt for an is-f steering ecu.

For what it's worth, I had intermittent power seeing lapses that happened a few times before my alternator completely fried. Ever since the alternator was replaced, the problem with power steering never came back. I still have problems with my car, but at least the power steering isn't one of them.
