Default Where Can I Get Catalytic Converters CA Legal??

I like my 06 IS350 but Im worried that if the cats ever go out I cannot afford to replace them.

How many cats does the car have? I looked under the car--I saw 2 main cats coming off the exhaust headers--then into what I assume is a resonator.

Dealer prices for new cats are a rip off. There must be aftermarket cats that are CA legal and more affordable.

Has anyone looked into this??

I called them they don't have aftermarket cats for 06 IS350. But thanks for the info. I found a Lexus recycling yard in CA that has used cats--picked up 2 cats plus manifolds for $300. Much better than $2000 from rip off dealer. Interesting though the cats and manifolds are one piece--I will be doing another post on that.

^^^^You have two sets (four) of catalytic converters. The primary cats are indeed part of the exhaust manifolds. The secondary set (two) is located in the mid pipe. If you don't have a CEL (check engine light) your primary cats may be just fine. Their are no electronics monitoring the secondary cats.

Do some research on this forum you you'll find many threads describing the configuration.

Just wanted to check in with OP to see if you were able to get the replacement Cats installed...I'm in the same situation and don't want to spend a few K for a 10 year old car. Thanks in advance!

I ordered a set of used cats and headers from a Lexus recycling yard in Rancho Cordova CA. http://www.rancholexusrecycling.com/

Thanks for the mention of the yard, I'll surely check them out for the cat and some other stuff I may need to scoop up!

Default Lexus Recycle

I just ordered cat or exhaust manifold for both sides from the Lexus Recycle Yard for $340 shipped to Orange County. Great place to look for people having trouble finding CA legal parts.
