Default Metal shavings inside CAI--damage engine??

I just installed a Spectre CAI and I remember looking into the metal tube before installation and saw what looked liked dust particles.

Afterwards I was reading Spectre reviews and saw a review that said they saw metal shavings inside the tube.

**** Ive been driving the car for a few days now--what if those particles were metal shavings? I hope they wont damage the engine!

Tonight I will disassemble the intake to inspect it!

Low quality control from the factory apparently. If anything, I'd clean out the tube and do an oil change. Inspect the oil filter after the oil change to inspect for metal shavings.

Default Found metal shavings

I took off the aluminum tube last night and found little metal specks inside the tube. I washed out the tube and reinstalled.

They were so small probably would not have caused engine damage but was still alarming. Had the metal shavings been bigger then could have caused damage.

I will be contacting Spectre to make them aware of this serious QC problem!

ANY metal particles can cause issues down the road. When you do an oil change next, take a good look at the oil filter.

How would the metal particles end up in the oil? I'd think they'd be sucked into the combustion chamber, not the crankcase.

Yes, most likely it got sucked into the CC and blown out the exhaust. But there's always the possibly.

I took the CAI off and the metal particles were very small like dust particles--they probably would have just been burned inside the chamber then blown out the exhaust. I did wash out the tube and put it back on.

I informed Spectre of the metal particles.
