Default Upgraded Navigation Unit from 2006 non-ML to 2011 Nav Unit

I currently own a 2006 IS250 AWD (2IS) with a non-Mark Levinson Navigation Unit. The unit is great but is somewhat outdated. I use the aux cord to play my music from my iPhone and cannot input steering wheel/stereo unit controls to skip songs--I know, it is first world problems but I would like the convenience. What I want to do is to add Bluetooth music connectivity and I understand that newer units have the capability and maybe even the ability to use USB flash drives.

My questions are:

1) Has anyone successfully completed a swap from old to new and able to use the new one without issues? -- OR able to direct me to a detailed thread with pictures and descriptions.

2) Also am I able to upgrade to ML system if possible? This isn't a priority but would be nice to upgrade to anyways. DVD option would be nice.

3) Am I able to use my factory connections and plug and play without making a lot of wire cutting?

Any assistance on this topic would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Impossible to upgrade to the +2010 nav without changing your current amplifier, and most likely the speakers too from +2010 models. I mean you can hook the newer navigation up, but the only things that'd be working are: gps, climate controls. NO audio, NO radio, NO cd, NO usb etc. The reason is because Toyota started using the MOST bus signal that transfers the data to the navi unit, and your current amplifier uses CAN bus(i think).

As for ML system upgrade. Yes, you could at it to your current system. Of course most of the wire is plug and play. You would have to rewired 4 wires to have AUX. On top of the time, you have to custom make Video signal wire (DVD player to the screen)

Hey there X36BLU,
I saw you did a non navi upgrade on your is250. I recently purchased one off ebay and did not do any research before what i got myself into. I did not know there were missing harness wires and antenna required for the install. How were you able to manage to install this? Anything tips/advice would help.. I went over to my local lexus dealership and would not touch it. Thanks

If all you really want is just bluetooth, you can buy the Blackberry bluetooth music receiver. It will auto pair with your phone and you'll be able to get music thru AUX without connecting your phone to it.
