Default Coolant Boiling!

Both yesterday and today I got out of my car after driving short and long distance, and noticed my coolant was boiling. Anybody know what could cause this, and how to fix it? (2006 350, 120,000 mi)

most likely a leaking water pump.

1, your Fan isnt working, check if PCM send signal to Fan replay correctly
2, Thermostat and water pump are goner
3, Head gasket

Sounds like you'll have lotta work with this problem, time and money, find a good mechanic, good luck

Check to see if the lower radiator hose is hot after a trip somewhere. If it is not, then most likely the thermostat isn't opening.

Remove the radiator cap when cool, and inspect it. Alot of members mention theirs falling apart, thus unable to maintain a proper sealed cooling system.

Check to see if the fans are turning on.

Check to see if the water pump is leaking and throwing pink coolant onto the lower engine block or onto the plastic lower engine covers. If it is, the cooling system isn't running optimally and you need to replace the pump.

If all of the above are fine, unfortunately you just might have a blown headgasket.

Thanks for the tips. The fan definitely works, it seems to be turning on and off constantly...

Thanks for the help, it turns out it was a radiator cap that wasn't pressurizing. Glad it had nothing to do with the head gasket.
