Well, the matter is we are talking about HID headlight swap into halogen version so there won't be any problem. I personally swapped it for 3 or 4 people already and none of them has any problem (except fail bulb or ballast)
Of source, if you swapping aftermarket or Halogen headlight into HID version then you will have AFS function error.

Get the ballasts tested out. Are the bulbs D2S or D4S?

Maybe they sold you the headlights with d2s bulbs and d4s ballasts, that could be the reason why it's turn off in 20 seconds

^^ +1 for that reason. You need to check on the ballast as well

Factory ballasts are meant for D4S bulbs, make sure you're running D4S bulbs.

Factory HID headlights (06-10 style, with AFS) are a direct plug and play to cars that came with halogen headlights. You will obviously not have AFS and the HID's will be low-beam only (no Bi-Xenon support without wiring changes), but it will plug in and be fully functional (in the same way that your halogens were, no extra features).

If the bulbs are good, and D4S, you've got ballast issues.
