New HID Headlights

So I see these headlight on Sewell and they are a great deal compared to the price for the other HID lights they sell. These are just the headlights only. No bulbs or ballasts. SO my question is I have seen 2 ways to change the ballasts. First is the heat and remove the clear cover on the front potentially leading to condensation problems down the road or dissemble the HID connector. I much prefer to disable the HID connector, but how hard is it to do this? It seems easy to dissemble but how hard is it to run the wire back through the headlight?

I guess my main question is what is Lexus's normal process for replacing a bad ballast? Do they heat up the headlight and remove the clear part and then dissemble the headlight? Or do they dissemble the HID connector? They have to have a service procedure for this right?

I have seen this way.

But just curious which way Lexus does it. I cant imagine buying new headlights, minus the ballast, and unsealing that clear part like the first vid. Seems like it could very easily lead to leaks down the road.

Lexus doesn't sell the headlights without the ballasts specifically for this reason. I'm not sure what Sewell is doing to end up with headlights without the ballasts, if they're removing them or something else, but Lexus doesn't sell them that way.
EDIT: When you add these to your cart, the part numbers that come up are 81130-53270 and 81170-53270 which are Halogen headlights, not HID. For a 2007 ISx50 with HID, the headlights should be 81140-53240 and 81070-53240 which are closer to $1000 each.
I have a feeling there is an error on Sewell's website, and I would probably email them first to find out for sure. As I said before, Lexus only sells the 2006-2010 AFS headlights with the ballasts already installed and does not intend for them to be removed and/or replaced.

these are the halogen lights
I would do more research on whether or not the halogen headlights are the same as the HID headlights sans ballasts and bulbs
in other words,
are the shields the same? and most importantly, are the projectors the same

Honestly, the most affordable + best output is to retrofit the halogen headlights. You can pick up a set of used ones for pretty cheap if you are worried about damaging your stock headlights. Here is a link to a fellow member that did FX-R projectors.

All in all the cost should be $140 for the projectors + $50-$300 for a D2S HID kit (depending on quality). I have the stock side fed is350 projectors and I will be retrofitting mine soon with either modified RX-AFS projectors or FX-R projectors.
