Default Thinking about a gen 2

Hello everyone, I currently daily a 2015 gs350 F sport and I absolutely love it. However it is not mine, it is my parents' as I am still in high school. I have been saving up lately and I have been looking into the gen 2 is250's, and I would love one that's around 2007-2009. I would trade in a 2009 Toyota Camry that has just been collecting dust in the garage, and the price difference between the Camry and IS250 isn't something that would kill my wallet. Are there any common problems with these vehicles I should look out for? Should i spend an extra couple thousand for the is350? Is there anything else important I should know about the gen 2 is250's? Thanks!

Honestly, if the Camry is free and possibly yours then why not keep it? No need to burn a couple bucks, especially since you're in high school. I came from a 07 Camry I used throughout college, and as a poor college student, the gas saved not buying premium during the high gas price years, the slightly better MPG, and the extremely low maintenance costs (I can't remember doing anything to it from 50k to 150k miles besides an alternator, battery and tires) saved me a ton of money. I imagine insurance costs on a sport sedan for a 16-18 year old would be horrendous vs the Camry.

If you're adamant on buying a 2IS, then view the links above. Careful of the 250's carbon build up.

Coming from that GS to the IS250 might let you down. Might I recommend the IS350 instead, which will be more on-par with your GS there.
