Default New here/not going to lie

Hello everyone. Just picked up an 07 IS250AWD about 2 months ago with 52k miles. Coming from owning an 02 IS300 for almost 9 years, I assumed the 250 would be as bulletproof as the 300 was, with better gas mileage, and ofcourse awd for our chi town winters. I never did much research, which was my bad, but have grown nervous lately reading all about the carbon build up issues, recalls, tsbs. Just recently saw a thread also about hitting bumps causing the car chasis to twist, and be totaled, which also doesn't help my confidence. I was planning on hopefully keeping her for atleast 10 years, but not going to lie, im not so sure anymore. Any suggestions or input from any long time owners would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I have a 07 IS250 RWD with 135k miles and have no issues. Only thing I have replaced is the water pump and the alternator but that is normal wear for any car.

Glad to see youre reading up on your car, and welcome to the ISfam. Id sugg get an acc at lexus and look at your specific recalls. If they havent been completed then take care of them. Also dont trip off of the chasis twisting. Sure its a possibility but same with any IS out there. Ive hit some hard potholes, even crack my outer lip, and im still rollin with no chasis issues. Yes i did get the rim fixed ......
at the countys expense.
Btw do searches first and ask if it hasnt been posted. You wont have guys like me giving you hell for the 20th post. Lol

Lol yeah thanks, I wont be one of those guys trust me. The carfax is clean on her, and the previous owner had all the service done at Lexus, including the elf recall, the 9la recall, and a couple BG fuel service cleans done also according to the service history. I guess my biggest concern is more the carbon issue. Im glad Lexus has the 9 year warranty, but being I just got her, im sure any issues wont be for a while, and I will miss the cut. Although she does tremble ever so slightly when im at a stop light, so who knows.

Nice! If I do keep her for the time I was thinking, I should be at around 150k miles, so hopefully just wear and tear stuff like you said, etc.

Yeah I loved my IS300, just felt like I needed something newer, and better in snow now that I have a kid, and one more on the way. Though sometimes regret getting rid of her. She was super reliable, only did water pump, and ball joint on her in the time I owned her. Only time will tell on the 250.

I had a 07 IS RWD for a while, sold due to carbon build up. It is not exciting to drive but it was very comfortable. I did use BG induction service and I think it would help, if I was owning one still I would do it every 15-20k, It's around $125 or so to do while you wait half an hour.

The IS300 or SC300 are much easier to work on and troubleshoot. Their engine is ancient proven and the car is not riddled by tons of electronics.. IS250 is totally different..

agreed. that's one of the main reasons why i really like the IS300. not a lot of electronics to worry about.

Agreed, the 250 is comfy, but not as exciting. Yeah according to the Lexus service history, previous owner did 2 BG services, so if I hold on to her for a while, the 15-20k service sounds good, thanks for the advice.
