Default rear struts

I hit a huge pot hole and blew out my left rear strut. I bought them and went to replace with OE struts but when I took it apart there is a metal piece that site on top of the washer type thing in the middle of the piston. This prevents the strut form bottoming out. Problem is the dealer can not understand what I am talking about. Their blow up picture does not show it. It is above the yellow bumber and below every thing else. It is possable thisa piece would come with as part of the strut bumper?
Going crazy

The part needed is below the rubber , and you can see where it sits on the section of the strut. The force blew it by that and the hole is large now and not reusable.
