Default Driver Rearview Mirror

Hey Guys!

I have a 2006 IS350 and when I bought the car from the dealership it was used. The car was in great condition, but there was only one problem. The driver rearview mirror was black and scratched up, so the dealership was loyal enough to replace it. Its been about 2 years since i've owed this car now and the mirror is beginning to have the same issue. Does anyone know if this can be fixed or if Lexus will do anything about this?

Thanks!

Are you talking about damage to the electrochromatic coating on the inside rearview? See this thread for the 3GS; same problem: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...ew-mirror.html

Default Thanks!

@Bichon, thanks! I will try some of the things mentioned in the forums!
@pheonix72, thats where Lexus got it repaired when I bought the car, I would really like to have the dealership fix this since it's a common problem with their vehicles. This disappoints me because Lexus owners pay good money to drive a nice car and they shouldn't have to deal with issues like mirrors.

Good luck with getting Lexus to do anything about the mirror. Actually this is a very common problem with auto dimming mirrors. I also have a BMW and knew of many members of the community had the same issue.

After owning several Lexus cars, I never had this problem. Now that is really meaningless, but I wonder if it this is related to how people clean the mirror. Never use anything which contains ammonia to clean any mirror.

Lucky you! I dont think it has anything to do with cleaning solutions containing ammonia as i never use anything like that on my car and still have same problem.
here is a quick Google search of some of the posts.

Thanks everyone!

Well hopefully my service guy will be willing to put it under a safety recall and get it fixed. Otherwise I'll just have to get it done my self once it gets worse.
