Question Driver Side Mirror Stays in Reverse Position

When I have the mirror tilt feature active for both mirrors(left switch position) the driver side mirror does not return to the preset position. The passenger side works fine but I have to manually reposition the driver side so I know it is not in the mechanism, it seems it is not sensing the transmission in drive but only on the driver side.

Anyone had this problem?
Is it covered under CPO warranty?
If not how hard is it to replace the faulty sensor or whatever the failed part?

this may be a obvious answer but have you checked your manual?

Thumbs up

Suggest you try the at home fix first. Sounds like you have the same mirror problem many of us have. There is a good post by SimSimGX on this thread, including the TSB on how to disassemble the mirror. Pretty easy and it fixed my mirror.

Quote this TSB L-SB-0064-09 number to your dealer and have them replaced. Dont sweat doing the job on your own when you can get the job done free. ( Subject - Exterior Mirrors will not automatically return when shifting from Reverse to Drive ).
pm me and could mail you a copy of the TSB.

The Text of the TSB is
Quote
Some 2003–2009 model year GX 470 vehicles may experience a condition where one or both of the
outer rear view mirrors will not automatically return to the proper position when shifting from reverse
to drive. A newly designed mirror ECU is available to correct this condition. For 2003–2006 model
year vehicles it is also necessary to replace the mirror actuators. This condition does not affect the
manual operation of the exterior mirrors from the adjustment switch.
