Okay so there's a twist in the tale...
Turns out the alternator is functioning 100%, the first workshop i took it to was talking rubbish.
After putting everything back together i traced the issue down to being a fuse, namely a 10A (LH-IG) fuse. [See image attached]
Pulled out the fuse, replaced it with a spare, started her up and everything went peachy...checked the voltage on the battery and even while under load by turning on all the lights, ac, interior lights, hazards, radio, even plugged my phone in the charger and it stayed around a constant 14v
I thought it was all over, until i pulled the car out the driveway, then the power steering died for a second, then bam no indicators again, pulled the car back in, checked the fuse again and it popped. It's too late to do anything now, will try and find the source of the problem tomorrow instead. I remember when all this started, i got a burnt smell inside the car, that's when the indicators first stopped working, so i presume something must have short circuited. Now i just need to find whats causing it
Update: I've narrowed down the problem to either the reverse switch or along the wire running to the reverse lights at the back. The fuse only pops once i placed the car in reverse. Check the reverse bulbs and neither bulb is blown must the a wiring touching the body somewhere or the actual reverse switch itself.
For now, I've just unplugged the reverse switch, and the car is running 100% without the reverse lights turning on while in reverse, I will isolate the issue when i have more time.
