Default Leather seats

I was cleaning in IS and RX today and I noticed something. The leather in my 05 RX looks in much better shape than the leather seats in my 09 IS. I treat them the same way with Leatherique. I noticed that there are more "micro-cracking" on the driver's seat especially on the bolsters.
Anyone else notice this and what ideas do you have to ensure that the seats in my IS will last without large cracks or splits.
Thanks in advance,
Chris

Our cars are great the only complaint I have about it is the leather. I had my s2000 for over 100k miles and leather didn't even wear much. My IS I've had for only 35k and leathers already cracking. My friends 335 he's had it for 4 yrs now and leather still looks brand new. I use lexol to clean my seats

I bought my IS350 brand new and it looks brand new. I bought my S2000 used from a friend and the driver's seat has so many cracks that I am thinking about what to do to remedy it. The 335i has hard as heck leather or that fake stuff that is very durable but makes you sweat like no other.

My front seats definitely need to be brought back to life. I wonder if we could get a group order on some oem or equivalent seat covers to replace the old ones. It seems like it's pretty common amongst IS owners.

Buy a new Seat leather from a dealer, which is expensive. Then try not to just throw yourself in and out of it.

You can't "restore" the leather or anything. Automotive seat leather, at least now, is designed not to absorb anything. So putting chemicals on it to help bring it back to life will just be a moot point.

I am pretty skinny, so none of my seats ever get too wrinkly. Unfortunately, my lexus previous owner was a big boy, so now I have to stare at the wrinkles in the driver seat until I get a new cushion leather.

My door-side lower seat bolster is all cracked up, but has been like that since I purchased the car used in April '11. But the console-side bolster is prestine! Has got to be due to too many asses getting in and out over time. LOL!

i think the way you get in and out of the car helps the life of the seats

i dont care much for the seats in my is350 but the way my cousin gets out of the car and in, he literally lifts himself up like hes sitting on an invisible chair
for me, i jsut slide in and out, the quickest way and there is a noticeable difference in the appearance of the leather seats

This is very true. The leather from different OEM suppliers will wear differently - it's a crapshoot. But Toyota/Lexus leather appears to be the worst, in general.

I have cloth seats, and the driver's seat has developed two annoying creaks in the backside, one that is often heard when I shift, and the other whenever I generate moderate cornering G-forces. In the second-gen IS series, Lexus appears to have dropped the ball in terms of seat quality. I've probably owned close to 20 cars (domestic and imported), and never had such seat problems.
