Default Carbon buildup question

I own a 2007 IS 250 AWD. At around 30-40K miles on the car, I got the recall letter from Lexus to replace the fuel rail. Brought the car in and no issues until recently. I have just over 80K miles and about once to twice a month when I get to a red light, the car shutter and goes low idle, almost stalling. I've also noticed that average gas consumption has gone down almost two miles per gallon. I just took the car in for the 80K maintenance and told them of the problems. They admitted immediately about the carbon build up issue and said it would be covered by Lexus if it needed the cleaning. Upon doing a diagnostic, they determined that my car did not need the clean out or any replacements, just a normal maintenance. If it gets worse, they will perform the necessary work and it will be covered by Lexus until 2017. Is there any method or something I can say to Lexus to perform the work sooner rather than later? I'd rather not wait as it is freaky as hell when the car shakes and almost stalls out. Thanks in advance for any advice.

It's a common issue and one that even after cleaning and a full piston fix will still happen. Mine will usually go away if I shift to neutral. Yesterday that little fix didn't work and it shuddered around for over a half a minute. What you feel is a valve shudding down due to an error dectected by the computer. Hate it!!!

I mentioned that...I live in a seasonal part of Florida with a lot of snowbirds who live here for the winter. Lexus claims the fuel consumption loss is due to more traffic with season. It's good logic but, as an accountant who is anally retentive to detail and micro manages most everything in my life, this aspect has been factored into my equation.

There's NO possible scenario where an 2IS will get 2 miles per gallon! LOL

Would motor vac-ing the engine help resolve this or at least delay the problem ?
