Default IS250 Carbon Build up CSP

Just spoke to my SA ....

Looks like the rumors about there being a 9 year warranty for the carbon build up issue may no longer be just rumors. He confirmed they are extending the warranty to 9 years/unlimited miles for the Carbon Build up issue through a CSP (Customer Support Program..I believe it was). Letters should be getting mailed out soon to us 250 owners with more details once everything is finalized.

It covers piston replacement and apparently top engine cleans (for those that already have revised pistons) for the 9 years. There's also apparently a revision to how the dealers themselves are supposed to diagnose/recognize the issue, though I couldn't confirm what those revisions might be.

So not a fix, but at least its better than nothing

Update: Here's a video that goes over the CSP. Might help some people better understand what is happening exactly

FINALLY! That's awesome news. Thanks for the heads up. Everybody please post when they received their letters so in case any IS250 owners never received their letters, they can go ask their local Lexus service advisors.

Not sure when we will get letters, but it seems like its about ready to be rolled out. Another member posted here somewhere that the same was happening in Canada. My SA seemed pretty knowledgeable about it so i'm assuming he's seen a near-final version of the CSP. We won't know 100% till we all get something official though, but as a 250 owner, its nice to know its probably not just a rumor after all!!!

That's excellent news! I'm pretty sure I know who your SA is and if it is him, we are getting solid info.

To clarify, that's nine years from the time the car was new, correct?

Great news guys! I just went through my mail and found this letter killais250 is talking about. Basically its for 2006 GS300, 2006-2010 IS 250/250C.

This is directly from the letter:
#####################################################################################
Intermittently runs rough after coming to a stop with the engine at operating temperature.
Intermittently runs rough with engine misfires present after a cold soak startup.

If this condition occurs one or more of the Diagnostic Trouble Codes* (DTC's) P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, P304, P305, and/or P0306 may be recorded
*The check engine light may illuminate for reasons unrelated to this condition.
####################################################################################

Also, to answer some people's question, I'll directly quote it off the letter:
####################################################################################
"This customer support program is offered for a period of 9 years with no mileage limitations from the vehicle's in-service date to cover a repair for the condition described above.
####################################################################################
