Default OIL Light...

I've been to my dealership about the CSP for misfires about 10x so far.... I have a 06 is250 that eats up oil like crazy.... Today my oil light came on so i brought to the dealership and they checked to see how much oil was consumed and they SAY only 3/4 of a quart.... How could the low oil light come on if it is only 3/4 low? I'm getting pretty pissed.... I brought the car in for misfire codes... for low oil light on.... and they keep saying come back in 1200 miles.... Has anyone ran into this problem?? any ideas on what i can do?

worn out piston rings will cause a lack of compression and this will cause a misfire would also explain why you are burning oil.

If it was me I would have called Lexus Corporate by now. That motor they keep throwing bandaids at it, but it's no good any more. They really need to get your a new engine.

What year and mileage are you at?

There are also other reasons that would cause for the oil light to come on, like low oil pressure caused by a blockage in the oil system or something similar.

Check your oil control valve. That could be the culprit

Dont really know what to say to them though. Obviously there is a known problem which i have had all symptoms of just at diff times.... I just want it fixed.

Thats the problem... The service guys said they believe there is a problem they just cant replicate it for corporate while on the phone. I have brought it in for symptom A and then symptom B but they need to have them both at once. This is a random problem i cant make it happen... I first brought this in back in Sept of 2012.... i would have to look back at the paperwork and see what the mileage was. Either way its an unlimited mileage 9 years from date of put into service CSP.... I'm to the point where i'm about to get a lawyer involved.

i don't think Lexus will do anything about it useless hes willing to pay. Powertrain Warranty is only for 70,000 miles. He now has more then 2x that much. I doubt hes been complaining about it for that long.

its a 9 year unlimited mileage warranty because of a known issue they have... Its a customer support program campaign that they have out. I received a letter in the mail that my vin number is in the range of the effected vehicles.

The dealership is suppose to monitor your oil level every 1200 miles. if it burns 1 quart or more in that 1200 miles then I think they give the okay to replace the necessary parts. Anything less is "acceptable." A lot of Toyota's 2AZ 4 cylinder engines burn oil like crazy too. And yes, I'm aware your car does not have the 4 cylinder 2AZ engine in it.

^You're saying that after only 1200 miles the motor was a quart low? And Lexus won't do anything about that? What is the lemon law in your state?
