Does anyone stick with the 3k interval schedule recommended by the dealer? I feel this is overkill, and an attempt to make $$$. Modern oil and filters should last longer IMO, but im not an expert. What do you guys think?

Also, if i were to do it myself, what oil and filter would you recommend? Should i stick with the OEM filter?

Thanks

i dont ever change my oil at 3K with the modern day tech into oils, i do every 5k miles. anything below that and you are just throwing away good oil still. i also just use oem filters

as far what oil to use, thats subjective and ultimately going to be up to you. everyone has their own preference for their own reasons

If I decide to change it myself, how do I reset the oil change light? Where should I get OEM filter?

check out the 2IS FAQ

you can go to any Lexus/Toyota dealer to get the OEM oil filter. Most of the members here get them from Sewell (one of the CL Sponsors)

I started with 5k intervals, 7k interval, now 10k interval. I'm sure I can even do 12k interval. (Mobil 1 synthetic oil)
