Default Programming 2 sets of TPMS trouble (main & 2nd)

Every time I swap wheels I keep having to go to Discount Tire and have my TPMS sensors rewritten to the ECU to be recognized... BECAUSE... each time they try to program either set of wheels into the "2nd" option the OBD2 scanner is not able to get the vehicle to accept it.

i don't remember the exact display data on the OBD2 but it basically goes like this...

reading vehicle... CHECK
reading sensors... CHECK
writing sensors to vehicle... X

it then says "make sure OBD2 is fully connected and vehicle in ON" which obviously it is because it works every time if the option is set to MAIN for the sensors. it only does this if it is set to 2nd.

I'm about to head for the dealer and see if they know something Discount Tire doesn't know... some sort of quirk or something you have to do with the system/scanner when trying to write a 2nd set of TPMS sensors.

Has anyone else experienced difficulty getting their car to save 2 sets of TPMS data? Both sets work just fine as long as they are written to the MAIN slot. If either are attempted to be written to the 2nd slot, the OBD2 scanner is unable to complete it.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I ran into that same issue at Discount Tire and was told that the 2011+ models require a newer programmer. I took mine to the dealer and they were able to program my stock rims to 2nd.

Not sure what year your car is, but hope that helps. FYI dealer charged me 0.5 hours labor, so it wasn't too bad. Still double what Discount Tire charges though.
