Okay... so a (small) wrench was thrown into my quest for new wheels and winter tires. Seems like the seller is keeping the TPMS sensors and I have to get new ones. So, instead of buying standard TPMS sensors I figured it'd be easier just to buy programmable ones and not deal with resetting the car every time I swap.
Does anyone have any experience with programmable sensors for 2013+ LS 460 wheels? Seems like the pre-2013 models may be different.
Don't you already own your own set of TPMS for your current wheels? Not sure I would let that 'obstacle' throw a wrench in your transaction.
From what I've seen/done, typically sellers (myself included) always keep their own TPMS because buyers have TPMS already equipped with their vehicles.
I don't think it's a big deal. Most tire shops will do it for you for free I think.
There's also a device that will allow you to program them yourself and might be a worthwhile investment if you change your tires a lot. I think it's a simple device that allows the tire to quickly communicate with the car.
When I purchased my winter wheels and tires, my shop included a set of programmable sensors that are matched to the summer set. Cost me about 200 bucks.
Nice! I'll see what my locals will do for me. Just got my wheels today.
