Default Brief top end chatter on cold start

2006 IS350

The car runs very smooth but on cold starts after sitting over night or after an 8 hour work shift when starting i get a top end chatter/rattle. After 1-2 seconds its gone.

Anyone know the cause and resolution to the top end chatter on cold start?

Thanks

Search "cam rattle" on here; you'll soon see many threads on the topic.

What Gville350 said, also unless you have an extended warranty this is a very expensive fix as your 2006 is out of it.

Will not danmage anything. When you get it fixed they just install a new part which helps keep the oil from slowly dripping out. To fix its about $250 + tax.
Is this guys price quote accurate? Cause i'd spend 250 all day everyday for this fix

To me, since it doesn't adversely affect everything, I'd rather not mess with it. Heck, I've read about others having had Lexus replace/repair the cam gears completely and down the road they still had the cam rattle!
