Default Cam gear Rattle!!!!

So I took my IS350 in today for the cam gear rattle and it made the noise on the first try!!!!

I felt very lucky because I read everywhere that if they hear nothing that they are instructed to turn people away. The bad news is that they will have my baby for 1 week!!!! Does that seem kind of long or is that a typical wait??

I guess I'm lucky I got a 2012 ES 350 with 300miles on it for the week beut man is that thing slow!!!!

Should I expect my car to run any differently????

I just had mine done recently and they only had my car for a day. I have an 07 250. I haven't noticed my car run any differently.

2007. I just put on F Sport intake and contemplated putting back on the stock but when they asked I just told them it was professionally installed. I'm not sure I could even screw up an intake install if I tried.

Only heard the cam rattle twice this calendar year so far. Until it starts happening more often, I'll let it be.

You can try recording your car, and just show them your car and hopefully you catch it on video lol, I did it to mines and just showed them my video and they just kept my car for a day to changed it

My warranty covered the cost when I had mine serviced for the issue. Even the loaner they provided. You should check with your SA. Also I recorded the noise on my IPhone just in case they turned me away.

Just spoke with Lexus. The noise we hear is just the weights in the cam gears and it wont cause any danmge. The noise come from when the oil drips down through the cam gears and you start up your car just the weights moving without lubrication for a split second, until oil gets circulated into the gears. Will not danmage anything. When you get it fixed they just install a new part which helps keep the oil from slowly dripping out. To fix its about $250 + tax.

Does this happen on the 250's? I am not sure what the Cam gear rattle sounds like, but when I start my car particulary in cold temps I hear like a clunk type noise. Is this normal?

I have a 2009 IS 350 that had the same rattle and I took it into the dealership. They said they fixed it but a few weeks later, I could still hear the rattle. They said it doesn't harm anything but it just bugs the hell out of me when I hear it. It's more annoying than anything. It mostly happens on cold starts. I'll probably take it in to get fixed again when they replace my windshield molding under factory warranty.
