Default Break in..

Front window was smashed, thief did a bit of rummaging but I guess didn't find anything he liked. However, now I'm stuck with some nice deep scratches in my seat and gashes in the steering wheel.

I have full coverage, but with a $500 deductible, I'm probably going to be paying for a lot of this myself. For this kind of situation, would they be more inclined to replace the seat cover or the seat entirely?

Also..does anyone have the link to the thread selling flat bottom steering wheels, might be time for an upgrade

There is no seat cover for our car yet. You will need to restore it or change new one. Best bet is give your insurance a call and paid $500 deductible

I'd rather just pay the $500 deductible, steering wheel and seat alone will cost you 800+

Wow... Terrible news. What part of CA and where was your car parked?

Like everyone has said, from what have described, it seems your best bet would be to get insurance involved and pay the deductible. Steering wheel itself is more than $500.

You got pic of the damage? I wonder if the insurance would try to get away with not replacing the seats.

Years ago I worked for a company that repaired tears in leather seats. We had the ability to put the "grain" back into a repaired tear and color match it back to normal. Much cheaper than replacing a seat.

I would not claim $800 in damages because your Ins company is likely to raise your rates over it.

Comprehensive claims, like break-ins, don't generally raise your insurance rates. If you have insurance that gives you a "claims-free" discount, it may void that discount though. I'm sure it varies by state and insurance company though.

We've had to make at least 4 or 5 comprehensive claims in my family and it never affected the rates.

+1 on this; i had a breaking in my old LS400 at the airport and the Lexus dealer had a service that repaired the leather rips due to glass as good as new.

A second thought for you on the wheel.... find out who is upgrading to the flat bottom one and buy their old one Post up a WTB in the classifieds.
