Default Stealership or Sewell???

i am approaching 60k miles...

lexus stealership is going to ask around $900 for this 60k mile service...

so is it cheaper to order parts from sewell and ask stealership to install them?

A lot of dealerships will not install parts that you bring in, so make sure you call and ask before purchasing parts. You could however install them yourself or have a local shop you trust do it.

From my experience you purchase from Sewell and take them to the dealership. Simple as that.

Sffd103: 60k is Plugs, Brake Fluid, Filters (DIY if you havent before OP), and Oil.

if you think its a stealership, why not go to an independent shop to do it?

$300 in parts
$450 Labor
$50 misc + tax
Total is about $800 for 60k mile service.

Probably save $50 to $100 in parts from Sewell...really not worth it.

It shows 6 spark plugs total $118.74
Cabin Air Filter $40.91
Washer Fluid $2.51
Fuel/Oil Combo $31.35
Combustion Cleaner $19.50
Wiper refill set $22.50
Wheel weights $6
Lexus motor oil $20.65
Gasket $1.70
Replaceable element $7.88
Element sub-assy $33
Brake fluid $12.46

I guess sewell is good for high price items above $100...
I guess i'll let stealership jack me on these small items...

howd you get those prices? This shows up for $122.58 for me. Includes Oil Filter and Drain Plug Gasket, Air Filter, In-Cabin Microfilter, Brake Fluid, Spark Plugs. Lot of those are basic fluids you can just go to autozone and buy them. 60k also calls for changing the differential fluid. Honestly, find a friend, the DIY guides, and some tools. The 60k maintenance is really easy to do.

Order the parts from Sewell and have another shop do it or DIY.

I bet if you call back your dealer asking for the above items, it will be cheaper than the "60K service" price

Yeah, we dont roll around asking for the 60k service, we ask to have the plugs, oil, and brake fluid changed.

Saying you need the service is like saying you need someone to see if you need new brakes because of this squeeling noise its making.

You keep calling it Steal-ership like you're trapped using them. I take it to a dealership service center because I want it done right the first time and some guarantees on service. That, and I'd rather have a cup of coffee and walk around my town square. I bring them my parts and they apologize for the inconvenience of having to purchase my own parts.
