Default Buying an Is 250 need advice

Hey guys im new here, have been toying with the idea of getting a lexus, i have always heard they are very reliable cars which is what i want and i like the look.

Im not getting one for speed or anything but as long as it has decent acceleration etc that would be great.

My question is what packages are garbage and what is good?

I was thinking the navigation would be useful, but then again use my phone for navigation.

As far as spoilers, wheels, exhaust etc.

I make about 30k a year, have excellent credit and i think i can mange a 400 a month payment, have about 8-10k to put down.

Thanks!

The ISx50 cars come with an aweful lot as standard equipment so I cant see recommending any additional packages. The Nav package is expensive and if you use your phone for nav it may not be financially beneficial to spend another 2 grand on a redundant system.

Everyone's financial situation is personal but since you list yours if you dont mind it seeming too forward i would recommend seeking out financing with usaa or a credit union for a 2.49% loan or better (usaa is doing 1.49%, credit unions doing 2.49%) and you can get another .25% to .50% credit for autopaying the loan. I'd then take that 8 to 10K and NOT put it down on the car but put it in a good mutual fund or something like VWINX that will get you minimum 7% per yer (offsetting the interest you are paying on the car). Some use 10% as a rule for how much car payment you can afford (that's 10% of after tax monthly income) but again, that's personal.

cheers! Mike

^ His first sentence says it all. Although navigation and heated seats are nice, the standard equipment is more than enough if you're still looking for an above average interior/options. I use my phone for navigation when I need to.

If you're looking at just getting something stylish that gets you from A to B in a comfortable fashion, then the IS250 will be enough for you. I'm 19 and only pay $83 a month for insurance with a 250 and get close to 400 miles on a tank of gas.

When it comes to modifications, ClubLexus has a lot to offer. I've only been a member for about a month and I've already learned a ton about these cars. Just search and browse through threads to see what you like.

Good luck on your search! I love my 250.

If you do not need an AWD, definitely find a used IS350 as used car prices on both vehicles are minimal difference. If you make 30K A month, which breaks down to $2500/month, you should be okay. I highly recomend you go through a Credit Union for your loan as their rates and customer service is superb. Insurance based on your history will vary. Me and my wife pay $142/month full coverage w/rental, towing and max coverage on our 07' IS250 and our 02' GS300. Thanks!

Are you wanting to purchase a brand new 2IS or a used one?

If you are making 30k a year you should buy a less expensive car and save your money. If you buy an IS don't buy a new one. Buy a Toyota or Honda.
