Default Aftermarket Soundsystem help

i have a 2007 Non Navigation Mark Levinson speaker system.

Last year i had installed an Audison LRX 2.9 amp that powers the 12inch Hertz HX300 subwoofer.

They are quality products , but my problem is the bass sounds muddy as hell. Depending on what i listen to, bass heavy tracks like hiphop or dubstep cause the most disguting rattling sound (sounds as if the subs broken)

I spoke to some audio speciailists and got them to check it out, they tried to tune but it didnt do anything.

They told me the only way i can fix the issue and improve my system would be to install an additional amp and head unit. Is this true? do i have any other options?

would it be possible to install a small enough headunit in the armrest? im not a fan of the aftermarket headunit installed into the center console. Doesnt look clean

Would a processor and signal summing take care of this problem? even though i dont have aftermarket speakers? what about a LOC?im not sure if i have one. and if i do im sure its a very cheap one cause i didnt pay for one when they installed it

ge the Audison Bit 1 processor. One of the best out there. Is it rattling or just doesn't sound good?

the sub is in a box or free air? if in a box and it sounds muddy then something wrong installation wise ( amp gain??) but if its freeair then heavy bass tracks + loud volume will rattles the board ( assuming u mount the sub where the stock sub is )

Sub is in a box, i dont know the dimensions, initially i thought the problem was the box, but i got it checked out at two diff shops and they both said the box was done right and well designed. the issue is the sound cant be controlled or adjusted. i forget the terminology used and what was the real issue but apparently i have to upgrade toa head-unit and an additional amp. Unless a processor + signal summing device would suffice (id prefer it cause i dont really want a head unit)

The rattling sound is coming from the sub, u can see /hear it. its a front facing sub, the face of the sub is exposed through the rear seat armrest.

my setup:

if i were you, before i throw more money i would try to borrow someone sub and hook it to the system ( unscrew and change the sub using same box), if the problem still there borrow someone sub+box...
just my .2 cents

If it is indeed the sub rattling, maybe the sub is faulty? It's hard to determine what is at fault without knowing exactly what the system sounds like. Has it always been like this, or did it just occur lately. Maybe the installation was poorly done? A signal processor would help your amplifier get a clean signal, but from the information we have, I cannot say for sure that's the source of the problem. Maybe your ears are picky and just don't like the way that subwoofer sounds.

No, im almost certain its the sub thats not recieving a clean signal, and not things rattling because of the sub/box setup. It happens on really low bass notes, and the sounds crackles and rattles. Almost as if it the speakers/sub sounds broken. I will bring this up at the shop and see if they can test for this in isolation. who know i may need to dynomat my trunk

Its been like this since i got it installed. after i got it installed i waited 2 weeks til the system was broken in and took it back to the shop cause i thought the sub wasn't hitting as clean as i thought it should be, but when they checked it out they said it was fine and blamed the rattling on low quality mp3 CDs. But now i tried it out with some bass heavy hiphop songs at 320kpbs and i still get the rattling. Recently I was at a car show another audio specialist took the time to check out my system and told me it was probably the box design but when i went to his shop to get it checked out, the technicians told me the box is good and changing it wouldn't fix the issue.
I almost gave up on the idea and was about to upgrade to another amp and head-unit, but then i read up on the processor and signal summing devices wat they do and realized that that may fix my issue.
Its kinda telling that none of the specialists here, mentioned those to me before (or maybe they did, but my ignorance on the subject could have been a factor in) but most people with the processors +summing have upgraded their speakers which is causing me to be unsure as to weather or not it will help. I think a trip to the shop today is in order
I dont feel like spending more money on the setup and want something to level it out.

just sounds like the box isn't tuned low enough for your bass heavy tracks. Is it a ported box?

hey man, audio guru here. ive had probably 15 different setups in my is250. audiocontrol is the way to go. jl is expensive as is audison bit one and when it comes down to it they do the same job. lci6 or lci8 is ur best bet. i used a line out converter for my first install and i had similar problems with the sub hitting completely out of phase.
