Extended warranty worth it?
So im just about to pick up an CPO 09 IS250 with about 35k miles on it and they suggested extending the warranty from lexus to 6yr/100k for around $2,900. I don't know to much on the reliability of the IS250's so any advice would be great
Sorry if I sound like such a noob but we're very excited to purchase our first lexus, but it definitely is the largest purchase I have ever made.

lol, even the MSRP is only $1750! http://www.lexusfinancial.com/consum...elected=IS_250
I don't really keep track of IS250, but IS350 people have been getting quotes of around $1500 -- IS250 might be around $1400.

Wow That's awesome thanks for sending over that link.
They showed me this fancy paper with the numbers etc and said that it was the CPO standard extended warranty plans. 4yr/100k for $1950 5/yr/100k for around $2200 and 6yr/100k for around $2900.
Those prices from your link blow those numbers away!
I am going to print that out and bring it in!
Cheers

I was reading that and all I can think of was "up-sell." haha. If they want you to have it so bad, have them give it to you.
I would go with what some of the more veteran 250 owners have to say about an extended warranty. Those who are where you would be at the end of the CPO agreement sans extension.

CPO warranty only has one option as far as I know - 3years/100k. Any car that is certified for sale as a CPO, gets the 3 year/100k warranty included in the sale price.
So after doing some calling it looks like the the difference with the link that you showed me is that those are Lexus VSA extended warranties and this would be an extended Lexus CPO warranty to 6/yr 100K miles.
Does anyone know if those extended "CPO" warranties can be negotiated or are they set in stone?

If your car is an 09 with 35k miles on it, you are still under factory bumper to bumper warranty...there was a Toyota/Lexus dealership posted here (maybe someone knows which one i'm reffering too, if not i'll try and find it) that sold warranties for much cheaper over the phone as long as you were still under the bumper to bumper warranty. If you find out its cheaper from them, you can buy this car without the cpo warranty (they can sell CPO cars without warranty for cheaper) and just get the warranty from the dealer that was posted on the forums.
Here's the place, give him a call and see what the price difference is

Cool thanks for the link. I gave him a call and he told me that because the vehicle is already CPO covered for the next three years, he wouldn't feel honest selling me one of his warranties.
He has great prices but they start from the original purchase date of the vehicle, mine would have started in 2009. He has a 7 year but that would only go one additional year from my CPO warranty. So it's not really worth it.
None of his warranties could go near the time of the additional CPO warranty of 6 years they are trying to sell me.
I think I might just go ahead with the one they are trying to sell me just to have peace of mind for the next 6 years.
