How to check for hid headlights
Hi there. Just bought a certified 350. Love the car and this forum.
Question: my car wasn't advertised with hid, but the salesperson mentioned that my car has hids. Is there anyway to confirm? I don't have any options for afs and my headlights are the same color as my fogs.
Thanks and I look forward to contributing here and getting to know you all!

Then chances are you don't actually have AFS since you said you don't have the AFS options scrolling through the satellite options.
When your car starts, does your lights go down and up? Do you hear like a pop/crack sound when you turn on the low beam? Do you hear a hum when the HID is on (have your engine off to hear it)? If yes, then HID.
Also looking at color alone doesn't necessary mean HID because the older cars used to use Philips bulbs which gave the more yellowish look until they switched to Toshiba which gave more of a whiter look.

Yes I don't have an option for afs with those controls (like I see in the manual). I do hear an electric motor type sound when I push the start button once and a faint electric hum until I turn the car off.
It is a 2009 is350 in Canada. I believe the car is base model but we get heated seats and mirrors standard in Canada.
Id ask the sales rep but he told me the car had a whole bunch of options it doesn't have so I don't think he knows what hes talking about.

When I bought my car the IS350 only come fully loaded, no options. That's why starting (and fully loaded) price is like 53k or something. The new IS350 AWD has a lot of options so starting is $44k around.
For sure you have xenon, I'm 120% positive.
If you're STILL unsure then turn on your lowbeam and fog lights. If they're same colour then you have halogen, but if the fogs are more yellow and the lows are white then you have xenon.
