I was hoping the $600 price was for the combo unit which then I would understand the cost. If that is going to be the Android cost I am worried to see the cost of the combo unit which is the one I really want since I have Android Phone but I also have an iPod Touch as well still.
it's not 100% and don't quote me, but from what i heard, i believe it might be something like this

1) ios version for around 500, but it includes the component cable as well (unlike current ml+)
2) android version for around 600
3) combo version for around 650-700

I guess this raises a good question... will this unit rely on HDMI output or will it work with the USB port?

I'm coming up on time for a new phone, need to keep this unit in mind while i shop

Does iOS need to be Jailbroken? I don't think Apple allows mirroring anything from iOS unless it's Air Play.

the ios version from my understanding is different. it operates much like the current ml+, it's not mirroring the iphone screen. that's what i last heard though

Hmm sounds interesting, how does it work exactly? Had a quick look at it but I don't understand all this tech stuff.

i wonder if ill just be able to swap the unit instead of having to pull the head unit out again. If so id probably get the combo unit.

I'd use skyvi instead but that's me. I've had good experience with skyvi for android

ONLY HDMI... I don't know how many times I've answered this on their facebook page. For some reason Vaistech hasn't told people it WILL ONLY work on phones that have HDMI outs on them. IE: the RAZR, nexus, Rezound, etc...
HOWEVER, this is what I've heard from the last time I spoke to my guy at vais... I'm workin with them closely because I work for a major telecom provider and have access to over 38 phones and I've done beta trials for companies like Moto, DEI (read viper alarms), LG, Sammy, etc... It's part of my job description at work.

Fellas I should have my beta unit (pre-launch) before August. Hopefully mid July actually. I will and have been given the green light to do a full extensive review of the product from vais... No I don't work for Vaistech either before someone accuses of that.
Here is an old in-depth review I did for DEI on their viper smart start.
http://my350z.com/forum/audio-and-vi...os-review.html

Yes I realize the screen name is different.

This review for the vaistech product will be further in depth and mostly in video format. I'm going to try and talk the wife into doing it cause she is far more attractive then me.
Please don't PM me. This is all I know and all I've been allowed to say from Vaistech.
I will of course update this thread with a link to my review when that time comes.

Yeah, thanks.... I am eyeing the SGS3 and see that samsung has a usb to hdmi converter, but its kinda big and then i have to deal with more cables and junk. I guess the quality doesnt matter too much since our nav screens likely cant display even 720p. I'll prob have to pick up something like this and hide it somewhere out of sight.

shouldnt be that big of a deal to hide....just take the center console out stuff it all in there all nice and neat. Drill a hole to provide access to the cables and be done with it.

New Android integration unit will work with most of the phones with HDMI out or MHL. MHL phones will require MHL to HDMI adapter. Full list of compatible phones will be released on our website very soon!
