Blue Tape???
ScotchBlue(TM) Painter's Tape is sold at mass retailers, home improvment, and hardware stores. We have 3 versions of our tape and which one you should use would be based on your application. All this information and more is available at www.scotchblue.com. And yes, 3M is a brand but it is also the name of the Company. 3M also owns Scotch(R), Post-it(R), Scotch-Brite(R) and many other brands. Thanks, and again please feel free to visit our website.
To add on to the clear-bra vs. 3m blue tape debate...I have a 2011 is250 that came with the Lexus factory version of the clearbra (not sure if it's through 3m or what). Rocks can still penetrate through it if hit hard enough. But it's so worth the money IMO. I would still put on blue tape in high risk areas for long road trips, especially down low on the bumper.
thanks! weird.. i tried posting from my phone and it still showed just the link and not the pic
is there a reason to apply it top down versus left and right? i think left right would be easier!
should i also do a car wash first before applying?

I wash mine before applying it, if you don't it wont stick well because of all the dust and everything. Make sure you let it dry for a while too though. The painters tape isn't that sticky in the first place so any dust, water, etc will make it peel easy. For applying it, its best to start from higher up and apply it downward slightly overlapping so the air doesn't get underneath the tape and lift it up. You'll see what I mean when you apply it haha
MAKE SURE YOU USE 3M BLUE TAPE!!!!
Some of the no-name blue tapes will leave a messy residue behind if it gets hot enough.
i've used 3M blue painters tape multiple times without any residue being left on the car.
I've seen the mess no-name tapes make, and some other users here have reported it too...plus 3M tape is only $6
Here's a pic of mine that I did for a Socal to Norcal trip...

Some people like to have fun with it, here's a pic of member Enrikito blue tape job...

Ive blue taped by front bumper 3 different times for 3-4 days each time. When you remove the tape, there are just faint lines of dirt where tape used to be. Just use some quick detail spray and your good
Would it be fine if i left the tape on for around 3 days or would it be best to take it off once i reach my destination? Reason being is because i'm doing 900kms and staying there for 3 days before heading back.
