Finished 2012 LED Headlights Retrofit
If some of you remember I retrofitted my original none HID 2007 headlights last year.( https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...eadlights.html ) Here is the thread if any one would like to revisit it.
Well this time around I'm going to retrofit the 2012 LED headlights I just got as the projectors on them just plain suck compared to my 2007 with TSX projectors. I'm just now starting the project and probably wont be done for about two weeks as I'm working on them a couple of hours everyday after work.
Driver side light taken apart and mocking things up.
2012 stock projector on left TX projector on right. (don't mind the brackets they are on there from another mock up)
TSX projector without shroud
TSX projector with the stock 2012 shroud, it should work nicely once I mount and align it.
Stock 2012 mounting bracket with stock projector removed.
This is all I have for now and I'll report back with my outcome.
I was able to work on the lights for a couple of hours and so far I can say these are a lot harder than my 2007 headlights. The brackets inside are made of aluminum so its a lot harder to cut with a Dremel. Also the fact that I need to cut and fit cut and fit makes the process that much slower. However after doing that for about 2 hours I finally got the projector to mount.
I also had to come up with a new bracket system, never the less here are a couple of pictures of my progress thus far.
image removed I wont let some one make money of my hard work
Projectors without the shroud, the projectors is centered. However you get an optical illusion that it is not as there is a small gap around it. I left this gap to have room for the shroud that goes around the projector.
In the pictures bellow the shroud is just placed there and not fastened down so it look a bit odd depending on the angle you look at it.
That's all for now, I'll work on it a bit more tomorrow and report back.
I was not happy with the way the projector was lining up so went back and rethought my bracket system and up up with something better. The light on the left is the retrofitted light the one on the right is oem, both are missing the lenses.
The driver side is all finished. I just need to mount the lense back on it but I wont do that until I mount it on the car and align the projector I came up with an ingenuous bracket system that will let me adjust the height of .projector like a turnbuckle.
Well I finally finished, and here are some pictures I took while putting everything together.
The money shot
If you look closely the cut of has a slight rainbow effect. Also all these pictures where taken with my Iphone 3GS. The lights are not mounted in this picture. I used the ballast on my Integra (it also has a retrofit) to power up the bulbs. I will make a new thread one I mount the lights on my car this Saturday.
