Finished 2012 LED Headlights Retrofit
#20
My car is a base model IS so I dont have that option. However after taking this light apart I'm 90% sure I could keep the auto-leveling if some requested it.

I just ordered the 2012's. I'm thinking that maybe I should hang onto my 2007's with auto-leveling until I see someone do the mod.

The projector looks like an AFS projector, it has the upper pivot and it looks like the just made a plastic bracket to solid mount the bottom. If that plastic piece could be removed and the AFS motor be fit in there instead, that would be very interesting. It's been a while since I've looked inside the 2011+ lights, so I don't know how far back the LED electronics go, and if they would interfere with a theoretical AFS motor.
There are 24 pins on the electrical connector for the 2IS. There are enough pins that you can have AFS and LED without running out of spots. The 3 LED wires normally sit in the spots where AFS motor inputs go, but if you splice the ground pin into another ground wire (or move it to pin 3 location), and move the +12V 50%/100% wires to pins 10 & 11, you could make it all happen.
It would be interesting if it all could fit, because I know in Europe you can still get AFS on 2011-12's, but it is without the LED strip.

In no way do your pics illustrate how bad the projectors performance is. Here's a Tsx retrofits light output...
I'm not using Philips bulbs either. Using Philips would've made an even better cutoff but I wanted 5000k temp bulbs.
