Default 2011 IS Wheels (Black)

Has anyone painted / powder coated their stock 18"s black on a 2011/2012 wheel? Even Plastidip for that matter.

I have the stock 18" 5 spoke liquid graphite wheels on a SGM IS250 and want to know what these wheels would look blacked out.

Check the photoshop request forum on CL. Or just look through the SGM thread, I'm sure someone on there has blacked out their stockies. Plastidip also costs like $12 a can. you need three to do your wheels. Just try it out? if you don't like it, it peels right off. And you're only out $40. I did mine and it's an easy job, except I'm TP.

Is there a DIY for Plastidipping wheels? I can't imagine it being too hard, just clean/prep intense.

plastidipping requires no DIY lol. clean your wheels, spray even coats and make sure it doesn't drip! If it doesn't look good then you can peel it right off

yeah, it's expensive up here. pretty much everything is expensive up here.

I put a DIY for wheels on the plastidip thread somewhere. look through it. it's about 1/3 of the way through IIRC

Checked the Photoshop requests as well as the official SGM thread, found nothing. Anyone have any other ideas?

I suppose I could just Plastidip them and see how they turn out, but I've seen 2 different ways. Some people just do the plastidip, and others use plastidip plus other paint and clear coat on top.

Anyone have any first hand experience with Plastidip and wheels?

I plastidipped my wheels, and it looked great for about a month, after that the brake dust just made them look crappy ........... If you really want blacked out , go with powdercoating, its cheap, and bulletproof for the most part. If you just want to see how they would look first, you could plastidip , and then peel it off after a couple of days, my 2 cents. Good Luck !!!
