Owners reviews
Well, I sold my GS and left the GS club. I'm planning to buy an 2nd GEN IS within the next couple to several months and I need to know what are your reviews on it. As far as reliability, issues etc. I had research it online and it didn't really give much other than ratings of all 5 stars or minimal issues or what is new on it or what's tweaked. I don't know much about the newer engines in this generation (205/185) compared to the more powerful engines in the 1st GEN IS (215/205) which was balanced. I want to make sure that I'm buying the right kind of car that will be a definitely be a life long keeper. Thanks.

Also of note- the way they rate hp changed slightly, so those pure #s don't tell the whole story. In actual testing the IS250 is as fast, or slightly faster, and with slightly better handling #s too.... plus, again, much better mileage.
But again I'd suggest a 350 anyway, not just for the power bump, but it avoids the one real recurring issue endemic to the 250 (and most of the early DI-only engines)- carbon buildup.
(do a search and you'll find several threads on that- it's not a killer or anything, but it's kinda annoying)
Speaking from an enjoyment standpoint, if you care about power at all, get the 350. I bought a 250 and it seemed to have enough power, but I found myself wanting more later on. There really are no significant power upgrades (aside from turbo or NOS) to make it faster. I bought a 2010 IS250 and 3 months later got a 2011 IS350. #learnfrommyfail
I did a lot of research before I purchased my 2012 IS350C. I had decided on the convertible and noticed that most of the 250C owners said they wanted more power and wished they had gone for the 350. I'm not a wanabe racer but like to have the power when I want it, and I got it now. I really like this car and can't wait to get in it and go.
Get ready for a reliable, enjoyable, safe car that will rattle and squeak. Today's Lexus' are still a good product but not the great product they were years ago. You will be happy, but be ready to deal with annoying noises.

And the rear seats don't fold down. That's really my only complaint. Oh...and squeaking breaks!! Wished I got the IS-F...but the 350 is not bad =)
