hey guys, i had a quick question on my 07 is350 i notice is slight jerk from 1 to 2 and 3 is this normal, and i go at slow speed and i dont accelerate much always 2000rpm or a lil under, is my tranny having problem?
i have experienced this on almost every luxury car i have driven. i dont think there is a problem with the tranny. usually i get the jerk when i am sitting in traffic on the highway. i think this is the result of the ECM trying to determine if you are under heavy acceleration or gradual acceleration (i.e. trafiic). because it has learned your driving tendencies it has a hard time determing which is occurring. because of that i think you get the hard shift point which causes the jerk. at least this is my theory.

There's no way you stay always under 2000 RPM in a 350, but I digress..Originally Posted by Shervin021

I also have a 2007 IS350. First gear is very short and aggressive, causing a bigger than normal jerk from 1st to 2nd. The best way to reduce this is to put on Snow ECT mode when in situations where you're hovering between 1 and 2 a lot (mainly in city driving and stop-and-go traffic).
Like the above poster said, the 2IS ECU adapts to your driving habits. I believe I saw from another post that you recently bought this used. You might want to reset the ECU (I believe this can be done by disconnecting the battery) which will essentially wipe out the previous owner's learned driving habits and start you from a clean slate.

I agree with Calvin, If your doing a lot of stop/go use snow mode to start in second gear and advoid the constant 1-2 shift. Resetting the ECU might also be a good idea.

Much easier way to reset the ECU is to pull the relevant fuse in the fusebox... tons easier than disconnecting the car battery.

^----I agree. I tried setting my mapecu to run logs anytime I get above 4k rpms. HA!! The first day after I checked the autologging it had 37 separate logs on the way to work!!!! I've had to turn it off since......

hahaha... If you are a IS350 owner and "keep it under 2k" revs you might as well buy a IS250 then right? Originally Posted by iRock

Explorehahah well here is how it went today, im coming from a camry so im basicllaly use to that kind of driving and not accelerating hard, i was looking for a clean mint condition IS with ML fully loaded and lets just say i got lucky and ended up with a is350
as the tranny goes went to dealer today, and explained my problem, the tech guy test drove the car while i was in passanger seat he notice wat i was talking about, he said that be fix with a easy transmission module reset, after 15 min he had me drive the car, AND MAAAAN O MAAAN the tranny is so smooth now that i cant even tell is switching gears,
seems faster 2 idk it could just be in my head about being faster but im happy

I always have this jerk sometimes when I come to a complete stop quickly it feels like the tranny holds the gear to long and jerks at the end...I hope I'm not the only one that has this problem.
