I just hit 1,000 miles and my car is saying I need the 1k service done. I've never had service done at this interval and I was wondering if it is really needed? And if so, what is exactly done?
Its jus an inspection and change settings. Its free why not? If something is actually wrong with your car then they will take care of it. I doubt there will be any issues but ya never kno.
Nothing is really done at 1k miles, personalized settings if you want to change anything.... I don't know if the IS250 is the same as the IS350 but on my '11 IS350 at 5k maintenance the oil and oil filter is supposed to be changed too, not just at 10k and later

the 250 changed to synthetic oil for 2011, thus the 10k change interval (not that 5k wasn't too often even with conventional mind you)
The 1K service is nothing more than looking at a few things and checking air pressure in tires and a chance for you to complain if you have any thing. They told me 2 hours and it took 30 min. I think the dealer makes some money from Lexus on this as they had me sign some papers for warranty work.
My local dealer said the 1k was for any issues and the LPS. I just hit 4,500 miles yesterday and the car says oil maint required soon or whatever. I made an appt for my 5,000 service and they said they do the oil change and filter at that time.
Why are some dealers doing changes at 5k and some at 10k on the 2011's?
Do all of the 2011 IS250's come with synthetic from the factory? Will dealerships try and put in reg oil? I've never dealt with dealership bs. I've just always done the mobil 1, amisol or royal purple myself in the past. Yet if this first 5k change is free, I'll try it out.
Let's call a spade a spade - the only reason they want you to come in at 1k is to get you used to coming to the dealership for maintenance. My first two services were free, the second of which was an oil change that cost approx $150. Can't say I'll be running to the dealer to change my oil @ 16k. Lol.
