Great thread, all!
I've got a '97 SC300 manual, a'04 LS430 and am looking at an '06 IS 350 for my 19 yr old freshman starting college 5 hours away.
This IS350 has chunked wheels (not a big deal), the typical 'soft dash in the summer' issue, AND a non-working touchscreen.
That's where the twist comes, for which I need input. The Seller says: "... no blue tooth in the car has a aux cord. the screen went black though. so you cant change the climate control. the ac is stuck on..."
1. Is there a connection between the screen going out and the inability to shut off the A/C?
2. Is there no Bluetooth in an '06 IS.50 with these options: Premium Package (perforated leather, heated/cooled seats, wood trim), HID AFS, 18" Wheels, Preferred Accessory Package (wheel locks, cargo net, trunk mat), and Lexus Premium Audio System?
I appreciate all the help you all can provide.
Thanks,
Bob

Unfortunately,the 2006 Lexus IS 350 only has Bluetooth available per handsfree phone, and need use of a bluetooth adapter for the music.similar to the following. Also, search Cruthfield / Amazon as well;
The BEST CHEAP Bluetooth Adapter for the 2nd Gen Lexus IS!

It is true that the screen is used to control the climate controls. There is a physical button called "OFF" to turn off the entire climate control and "AUTO" would turn it back on but A/C is automatically selected. Without the screen you're not able to toggle A/C functionality so that will be stuck on.
Black navi screen is due to a power supply module within your Navi system.
Use the voice commands to change your climate in the meantime until you get the Navi fixed.
Climate Commands Command Alternate Commands with same function Automatic Air Conditioning Automatic Air Conditioning On, Automatic Air Conditioning Off Raise Temperature Warmer Lower Temperature Cooler 65 Degrees Temperature 65 Degrees 82 Degrees Temperature 82 Degrees 83 Degrees Temperature 83 Degrees 84 Degrees Temperature 84 Degrees 85 Degrees Temperature 85 Degrees
Very nice write up!
I may have missed my issue in this thread (boy is it long!), so please excuse the following if i did.
I recently bought an '07 IS350.
The Seller advised that the touch function was out and that she had a new part from Amazon in the glove box and included with purchase.
I bought the car and when I received it, she was correct.
However, within a 3 weeks, the screen went black (not illuminated). At first intermittently, now constantly.
I learned quickly to leave the A/C on AUTO (it's still in the 90's in Atlanta) lest I lose the ability to turn it on. However, it's now ALWAYS on.
The 'hard' switches immediately below the screen but above the strip of climate controls, clock, temperature adjustments and emergency flasher are no longer illuminated and do not work.
I found a local fellow who repairs screens, ECU's, instrument clusters and door actuators. He advised that my issue is past the screen &/or digitizer but is a a circuit board issue.
Is he correct?
Is $395 to remove, repair and install at my home a fair price?

Thanks!
IF he can fix it. I'd say thats a fair price. Good luck.

He came to the house and removed my unit, went to his shop and repaired the circuit board and other issues and returned Saturday even ing to install the repaired unit.
All features are working correctly!
Cost: $395, Remove/Repair/Re-install.

When started, the orange front demister light flashes for 20 seconds, then green light comes on for outside air. No fan, no AC. Temp setting, 25degC. If I then increase fan speed to one notch, AC then lights up. I then need to adjust temp down. Basically it's not saving past setting in memory. This happened after I blew a ACC fuse on passenger side working on the amplifier this have happened earlier so I just replaced the fuse. But after that the ACC system started acting up and I have no heat. I tired disconnecting the battery after I turn on the car it make very lound noises I think it's the servo motors trying to do there thing but something is not right inside the dash. All so the cabin air filter door is broken but it's like that from the starting.
So I replaced the digitizer for my 2006 IS350 and the touch screen still doesn't work. Upon further inspection I noticed the power cable for the touch screen has a burnt mark on one of the pin slots(see attached picture). Is this the culprit? Am I screwed do I have to replace the wiring harness/socket?
It was the top right port and it's clean, no evidence of burnt pins. I went ahead and ordered a used LKQ unit to narrow it down and that ended up being the problem which is weird because in the picture the wire connector looks damaged but apparently it still works. I'm happy everything is working again. Thanks for your assistance!
