Power Window Slam
After using a RX350 for the past two weeks while I had my piston rings replaced by lexus, I notice that the IS250 windows seem to slam on the way down and up. I don't know if slam is the correct word to use but the RX350 windows were smooth on the way up and down and they actual slowed down before hitting the bottom or the top when the window was opened and closed. Anyone else notice this with their windows. The Lexus service advisor said this was like this on all of the IS line and it was the most complained about issue. Thoughts??
For the RX, they added that feature in the design. My mom's '10 RX350 has it, and it's pretty nice, like a more intelligent design that doesn't put as much wear and tear on the window motor.
I've gotten used to the way the windows on the IS roll up and down though so it doesn't bother me personally.

Hi John,
I can confirm that the Middle Eastern version of the IS does the same.
Just to confirm here is my voice recorders recording of the Back window opening and closing (while car is running) and the same for the front windows following it. Recorder was with me in the front.
Everything else in this car is supersmooth, the engine is barely there (especially the 3 litre V6 we have in the Middle East, 3GR-FE, 228 HP) and then the windows are a bit of a bummer ;o)

P.S.: What I really like about the windows is their speed. The car I had before this one was half the speed, was quite annoying if the window takes forever to go up and down, especially in our climate with up to 122 Fahrenheit in the summer and high humidity.

The only issue I have right now is slight squeaky noise coming from the driver side dashboard. I know it's fixable under warranty but I'm not getting the time to go to the dealer
Can someone tell me what's going on with the piston rings on the 2IS? I keep seeing posts about it. Is it a new recall or TSIB? Is it just a new fix for an older common issue? Is it limited to the 250 or 350?
Not sure how it fits with the rest of this thread, but since you ask...AFAIK it's the "new" fix for the carbon buildup issue on the 250 (doesn't apply to 350)

This is a new TSIB, its supposed to reduce the blow back and reduce the carbon build up on the intake valves. This is what the service advisor told me. I did experience a like every 2-3 months where my car would almost stall slowing down to a red light. That a a reduction in my average mpg. I was averaging around 28mpg mixed driving and it has been a steady decline to around 22mpg. Hope this works.
