Default Dynamat under body?

in a quest to reduce as much road noise as possible, has any one ever tried dynamat or a product like it on the under body of our cars?

I was thinking on the outside underbody just a nice clean layer.

Or I was also wondering if I felt my exhaust was too loud in cabin, would a layer of dynamat around the areas near the mid pipe/ muffler etc would help noticeably reduce noise.

I would assume it would rot out. I put an aftermarket flat black body kit on 2009 Kawasaki Ninja and threw dynomat onto the inside of the fairings just because OEM fairings came with a dynomat-type material for sound. Just from my bike hitting a little rain here and there it seems to have deteriorated within the year I used it. I think it would help but the under belly of a car gets SHIIIIIT on all day when driving. Rocks thrown up, water, mudd, rain, dead animal guts.. That stuff might turn to crap real quick. If it were me, I'd take all the seats and carpet out of my car and then install the dynomat UNDER the carpet... Good luck!

I had a layer of Dynomat installed on the (inside), under the floor carpet and the back wall on my lifted F-150. It cut down on the road noise due to my off road tires substantially. The shop said it was a b!&*h to install since they had to take out all seats and cost me a grip in labor! Probably would be the same in an IS.

Inside, not out would help.... or you can just line the inside with some type of deadner liner..

BUT

keep in mind that by doing so you will disrupt the noise balance of the car.
The floor will get quieter and then you will realize that the windshield and windows are noisier.

after all it is all relative.

OHHHH thats why you wanna sell your tanabe~ dude... tanabe is the quietest aftermarket exhaust AND it has the best looking tips (everyone get tanabe, dont look for used greedy sp2's cuz their ugly ).

Just turn your radio up louder thats what you got the sub/amp for

getting "not as noisy" tires will cost much less than labor putting in Dynamat

Another product is Raammat. You have to put these products inside your car, under the carpeting and against the body to cut vibration. I just finished lining the wheel wells and rear of my C5 Corvette with Raammat. Made a huge difference in cutting down highway wheel whine. Easy to work with. Should be able to use all the existing screws and hardware. I believe it's 3/8" thick. Also, if you're serious about road noise, don't forget the doors.
