Default Debating which HIDs...

Hello lexus owners, I need some opinions on which HID's I should get. I have a SMG Lexus is250.

I was debating on getting
6000k or 8000k.

Which one do you guys prefer?

If you have experiences please comment.

Thank you for your time.

Here's a link I'm going to buy them from.

Between those two, I'd get 6000k. More light and a more white color. I don't like any headlights with blue or yellow but that's just me. I first started out with 6000k but got 5000k right now.

If its for the headlights, you may need just the HID bulbs (not the whole kit) depends on if your car already came with HID or not. If it did, you just need bulbs, if it didn't, you need the whole kit.

I've had 3000k, 4100k, 5000k, 6000k and 8000k in the past.

It really depends on what you want out of the lights, but i prefer 6000k. It gets you that white light with a very slight hint of blue and doesn't attract as much cop attention as bluer temps like the 8000k and up. 4100k will provide the most "usable" light for the headlights though. 5000k is like pure white...which also looks good. But, IMO, if your upgrading HIDs, might as well get that nice crystalish white look 6000k gives you.

If your doing the fogs too, either match the headlights or get 3000k for the headlights. I love the 3000k (yellow) look, but i've done it before so on my IS i'm going with 6000k headlights and fogs

Check out the vendors on here too, they offer some good prices. XenonDepot, Modexpress, Autodesign, all sell them.

You have a 2006? Do you have memory seats? If you do, you have HIDs. Otherwise you don't.

The 2006's with HID's also had memory seats.

Make sure you check the bulbs before you decide. 6000K for one brand compared to a 6000K of another, the color would not be the same.

Ie. 6000K can be white with no hint of color (ie. Philips Ultinon 6000K), while another 6000K of a different brand would be white with a hint of blue.

If you are considering 6000k vs 8000k then definitely go for 6000k. However, I am personally a fan of 4300k for the brightest, whitest, and most OEM functionality. The IS has projector headlamps so a 4300k HID kit will get you both color and light output.

Naturally I'm biased towards XenonDepot HID kits =) ClubLexus members get a $25 discount by using coupon code "CL" upon checkout.

Hopefully you guys will be able to see the photo. I had a chance to take some night time pics of my XenonSupply HIDs in 6000K low beam and 3000K fog lights. Both are the Premium Slim packages with their Intellight brand HID bulbs and i love it! Also got some 6000K parking lights to compliment the new HID color.

Hope it helps your decision making process. JDM FTW!

As the others said. Go with 6000k if you want visibility and a closer look to stock. 8000k doesn't look stock and provides less visibility.
