Really? You think total repair costs will be less than my deductible? I called my insurance agent and I have a $500 collision insurance deduct. Wouldn't the body shop have to replace the fender since it's physically ripped?

I work for the city that this happened in up in nor cal and I hope I get your letter/call cause I'm going to shred it and mail it back to you...
Please draw me a picture of how you feel we, the city, should take care of this in the future for you so that it doesn't happen again...
Perhaps you'd like us to install huge mesh wall barriers so that nothing could fly into the highway?
Or perhaps we shouldn't allow pickup trucks on the highway?
GTFO with your calls and letters to the city.

However, I am sorry to see your IS has a scratch. Glad you are ok though.

This is definitely fall into the "Comprehensive Coverage" category.. Just say something fell off a truck and you couldn't avoid it in time. You should be good. I don't know what's your deductible but mine is only $50.

I wouldnt claim even if this repair is a couple hundred bucks above deductible. I'm told each claim of insurance costs about $500 in adminitrative fee. You don't think the company will get it back from you one way or another?

Yea, I spoke with the insurance rep today and they said it is comprehensive. I've got a $250 deduct though.

So I just got the estimate today and it's over $2000 to fix everything. And I don't recall the insurance mentioning anything about that $500 admin fee. I'm guessing that's a person-to-person situation.

I kind of get what he's saying. Blaming the city doesn't really make any sense, it was bad luck. What's the city going to do? Send people onto the highway to pick up debris? Sucks what happened though.

There have been lots of lawsuits because of debris on the road. As someone who works for the "city" I would think you would be knowledgeable enough to know this, but I guess I should have known by your post that your not.

File the claim on your insurance. This would be a no fault claim and should not affect your premiums. All you will have to pay is your deductible. In addition, report it to whatever entity is responsible for the highway you were driving on. I know if the Phoenix area that they sometimes pay for the repairs if you report it soon enough. They don't always, but heck, it doesn't take very long to report it to them.

Seriously, draw me a map of how the fawk the city is responsible for debris...
This is like suing mother nature due to her causing too much wind or perhaps like you all being sued for speeding by someones car and you gave them a heart attack.
GTFO people.

Just got my car back from a body shop called B2 Perfection Auto Body and they did a phenomenal job! They replaced my bumper with a brand new OEM one, restored my door to a spotless condition, clay polished the whole car and detailed the interior. If anyone is in the south SF bay area, I would highly recommend them!
