Question SFP Touch Up Paint Question

Got a small scratch right where the front grill meets the bumper and noticed on Sewell's site there is a "SFP base Coat" and "SFP" touch up paint available.

I'm assuming that if the scratch is minor you just need the "SFP" one and if the scratch goes through all the paint you need both of them? Just curious what i need because SFP is the only color with the option of a basecoat.

Thanks for the help on this simple question.

I actually bought the touch up paint. The base coat bottle is a white paint and the SFP paint is like a pearl glittery topcoat. It's pretty difficult to make the paint blend in with the car paint though.

Hmm... thanks for the info! I guess I'll need to get both and hope for the best! At least its a pretty inconspicuous place that regardless of outcome, it wont really be noticed.

If it's like the pearl white on my old car, you apply the base coat, then apply the top coat after the base dries. Definitely less noticeable, but it likely won't match with SFP

If the scratch goes through the paint and shows primer/metal, then you need the basecoat. Paint-matching with the touch up pen/brush is realllly hard. But after I filled my emblem holes with them and other rock chips, I've learned that multiple base coats are good with a very thin layer of pearl. If you put too much pearl coat and it'll get too dark. So just remember apply a very small amount of pearl coat and just spread it around. Also I wetsanded and polished the touch up spots and it came out pretty close to stock paint. Goodluck!

Tried my hand with the touch up pen brush. I had some concrete wall rash on the upper edge of my bumper. It came out looking worse than before...I wiped it down and left the black speckled road rash instead.

Are there good ways to blend SFP?? any techniques in watering down or applying?
