Hey guys,
I'm not sure if it was mentioned before but I cannot find it via search.
But I just installed a JL 10w6 and I was wondering for the guys with after market setups, did any one remove the stock sub for better air flow? Or is the sub enclosed and theres no point to remove it? Thanks guys.

I removed my sub only because I ported my box through the rear deck. I used to have a JL 12W6 powered by a JL Audio 500/1 but hadn't touched the sub. It's up to you I think.
What box are you using with the W6?

stock sub can be removed by removing the rear seats and deck. its up to you whether or not you want to do it because opening the trunk access via the rear seat will be just as good

i went with one of the fiberglass boxes that fit on the side of the trunk. I really needed to keep as much trunk space as I could since I carry a lot of suit cases etc for visitors.
But I have the rear set vent open now but I was hoping to be able to close it for a cleaner look. So since im sure you guys have seen your trunks bare does the stock sub have a clear path into the trunk or is it shielded by some metal that would restrict air flow even if i removed the sub?

That ML sub comes out fairly easily. Pull up on the seat bottom, undo the seat belt bolts, undo the 4 or so bolts holding the rear seat, pop up the rear deck enough to get access to the sub, remove the 4 bolts holding down the sub and disconnect the wire harness. Take 30 mins max.
